AIM

This module aims to provide students with the detailed knowledge of legislation relating to food. It will enable students to recognise the responsibilities and liabilities of those engaged in food businesses. The module will also consider the impact of legislation on consumers and regulatory services.

 

LEARNING OUTCOMES

At the end of the module the student will be able to:

1. Demonstrate a detailed knowledge of the law relating to the composition, labelling and advertising of food and food products sold for human consumption within the UK and the EU

2. Identify and evaluate the responsibilities and liabilities of producers, manufacturers and suppliers of food and food products

3. Show a detailed knowledge of the diligence requirements of producers, manufacturers and suppliers

4. Demonstrate a detailed knowledge of the law relating to the requirements of packers and importers with regard to weights and measures legislation

5. Apply legislative requirements to a workplace setting
